The open data of the Public Transport Register provides valuable input for studies related to, for example, public transport network planning, mapping access to public services for residents in different regions, as well as assessing the social and economic impacts of public transport networks.
The Public Transport Register open data consists of an extract from the national public transport register and contains information on domestic bus, tram, trolleybus, rail, and ferry services. The data describes:
- Operators (e.g., operator name and contact details);
- Routes (e.g., route number and name, mode of transport);
- Trips (e.g., direction of travel, wheelchair accessibility of vehicles);
- Stops (e.g., stop names and geographic coordinates);
- Timetables (e.g., arrival and departure times at stops);
- Ticket prices;
- Geometric shape of route alignments.
The data is updated daily by the Estonian Road Administration (Maanteeamet) and is provided in GTFS format, which enables the integration of public transport schedules with geographic data.
