Tallinn’s open data includes machine-readable and unrestricted datasets intended for free use. As of June 2020, the Tallinn Open Data catalog contained nearly 40 databases based on Tallinn’s information systems. In the context of mobility research, the following datasets are of particular interest:
- Tallinn and Harju County public transport data (e.g., public transport information, stops and routes, real-time locations of transport vehicles);
- Operational information on street closures and road maintenance (e.g., ongoing road works, street closures today and upcoming);
- Thematic and detailed planning data (e.g., Tallinn’s planning register);
- Information on permits for public events (e.g., permits for public events and sports events).
The earliest data in the Tallinn Open Data catalog dates back to 2016. Most datasets are updated in real time.
